Performing Mountain Bike Tricks

There is no shortage of mountain bike tricks that can be performed with each having its own level of difficulty and among the more well known ones is dirt jumping, cross country and a lot more. For example, when a mountain biker tries out cyclo cross, which is something between mountain riding and road biking, riders race on as well as off the course, goes over obstacles and even need to traverse rivers. The most popular mountain bike trick would be downhill biking which is very fast and is something that most downhill mountain bikers love to do, and this is all about extremes as well as intense riding that is loaded with thrills and spills.

And, when bikers take to dirt jumping they will be performing mountain bike tricks that involve jumping high above dirt hills that have been especially created for them and whilst the biker is airborne there is scope for performing amazing tricks with his or her bike. Essentially, mountain bike tricks involves performing loops and jumps as also twirls in the air and when these are done to perfection, there is a great deal of artistic content which makes each mountain bike trick very beautiful to view. Learning mountain bike tricks is not all that easy and it can take bikers years to perfect them, especially if they wish to perform at competition levels. The backbone of mountain bike tricks is sure to be bike jumps even though they may not be exactly the ones that mountain biking is most well known for.

It is usual for the majority of mountain bike tricks to be performed whilst the rider is in mid-air, and so knowing the right moment to make the jump is crucial to performing the trick properly. And, the number of different jumps can boggle the mind with the one most often used is the double which in the main means doing the jump in two segments with the first obviously being the take-off and the second is the landing. In between, the biker can perform whatever new trick he or she has learnt up and this trick is known as the gap jump.

Yet another type of mountain bike trick is the one known as tabletop which is a jump recognized as being a trick that consists of the take-off, table and then the landing and this is the jump from which the roller jump derives its inspiration. When a mountain biker performs such tricks it will be sure to leave the spectators gasping, and when a biker is particularly adept at his or her trick, it will all seem too easy to perform. However, one should not attempt to do any of these tricks without proper guidance and with someone around to show you the ropes. Some of the amazing mountain bike tricks involve turning the bike at right angles to one side and the whip is another famous trick that involves making the back of the bike flips to the side. All that is required is proper equipment which will ensure that the biker can perform even the most dangerous tricks with ease and this equipment is more than the bike, and includes protective gear also. So, before taking to doing mountain bike tricks, makes sure that you have the necessary equipment to protect you in case of a mishap.

There Is More Than One Way to Ride a Mountain Bike

There are nine different kinds of mountain biking, each offering its own unique type of thrill or enjoyment. BMX biking is on small, nimble bikes with 20 inch wheels. These bikes are used for jumping and are usually used at a skate park, or in an area that has dirt mounds to jump off. Their small size and and short wheel base makes them perfect for performing biking stunts and tricks.

A cross country mountain bike is perfect for riding on hills and through uneven terrain. It’s an easier sport than BMX biking, but most cross country bikers like to travel long distances, as a cross country runner would do. This keeps these bikers as fit as cross country runners as well.

Cyclo cross biking is a combination of road biking and mountain biking. The sport involves a course that covers both on and off road sections. The course may contain water crossings and other obstacles as well.

Dirt jumping is a kind of mountain biking that is done on large man made mounds of dirt. While they are aerial in the middle of the jump, the biker will attempt to perform tricks and spins in the air. The mounds are placed relatively close together, so the biker builds up more speed and height on each subsequent jump.

Downhill mountain biking is just that: a race to bike down a hill as fast as possible. This is a a very strenuous but thrilling sport, since travelling downhill on mountain bikes at high speeds over uneven terrain is very difficult and dangerous.

Free mountain biking means the biker hugs the contours of the mountain to find the best route to the bottom. This is a very popular sport since each biker has his own style to express and it is fun to watch the various ways they do so.

Single speed mountain biking uses the simplistic approach to mountain biking. The bikes are designed with only one speed and very few moving parts, yielding an ultra light bike that relies solely on the strength of the biker, rather than a mechanical advantage.Street or urban mountain bikes are used in the city, almost like a skateboard. Urban mountain bikers use railings, ledges and other features of the urban landscape to perform their tricks such as “stalls” and “grinds”.

Trail mountain biking uses a very low framed bike with small wheels. This allows the biker to jump the bike over obstacles. This is a difficult mountain biking sport, requiring a good sense of balance and a high degree of concentration.

NBA Southest Division Preview

Miami can win the Southeast by as many or as few games as they want to. Last season it became apparent that the Heat are the perfect playoff team. The rest of the division consists of young talent, but each of these teams are missing crucial pieces which will prevent them from reaching an elite status.

Miami Heat: The Heat will take the Southeast Division but not by as much as you might think as the Wizards will likely be a close second. After capturing a NBA Title last season, Pat Riley will make sure that his players are healthy entering the postseason. If that means sitting out Shaq at times and cutting down Dwayne Wade’s minutes, Riley will do it. Jason Williams and Antoine Walker proved to be great acquisitions last season as they showed that they could be role players. Riley stepping in as the head man may have been the best move by a franchise, period, last season. Shaq, Zo, and The Glove give this team the experience and leadership that many NBA teams are lacking and D-Wade is the icing on the cake. Fast Online Payday Loans

Washington Wizards: Gilbert Arenas finally reached NBA elite status last season and will boost his numbers again this year, but I don’t foresee much improvement in the Wizards’ record. Jamison and Butler can score but neither plays much defense and the Wizards can’t ever afford to have Arenas on the bench. Maybe that’s why he led the league in minutes last season. Not having a big man is the down fall of this team like so many others across the league. The championship teams have a force in the middle unless Michael Jordan is on the team.

Orlando Magic: The Magic have one of the game’s best young talents in Dwight Howard. He dominated the paint last season leading the league in dunks and I think you’ll see even bigger things from him this year. The big “if” is Grant Hill. When he played last season, it was easy to see that he can still be a great player in this league and he has the veteran experience and attitude that this young team needs. If he can somehow make it through a full season, or most of it, the Magic could leapfrog Washington and take second place in the Southeast. Jameer Nelson is a consistent 16 and six guy at the point and Milicic may come into his own in his first full season as a starter. This team has great prospects.

Charlotte Bobcats: Despite being incredibly young an inexperienced, I think the Bobcats can avoid last in the Southeast. Felton will make plenty of noise this season at the point. He averaged nearly 17 points and nearly eight assists in 27 games following the All-Star Break. With rookie Adam Morrison, explosive small forward Gerald Wallace, and double-double man Emeka Okafor, the Bobcats have some great young talent. They’ll play with nothing to lose and really light up the score board this season. Their big concern is defense and that concern won’t be answered all season long.

Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks are another team that falls into the “young and talented” category. This category’s subtitle should be “no chance to make the playoffs.” Joe Johnson isn’t a franchise player at just 20 points per game, and I don’t see Marvin Williams or Josh Smith reaching that status ever. Williams may surprise me this season, but he has such an ease to his game that I get the feeling he lacks the determination it takes to excel in the NBA. Perhaps, it is just an illusion and winning will change that, but I don’t foresee much winning anytime soon for the Hawks.

SKY FERREIRA – One

WARNING: This pop gem will be filed neatly in your ‘Guilty Pleasure’ file. Sky Ferreira is a 18-year-old kid who has written songs for some girl called Britney Spears and used to hang around with some geezer called Michael Jackson. Grrrr we so wanted to hate the little brat!

One is electropop and is a brilliantly robotic (which sometimes sounds like the record has got stuck) short and instantly likeable pop tune. You will dance the robot in your bedrooms…but then you’ll need a bath after feeling a bit dirty for doing so. Pop music CAN be pretty damn good sometimes. But have Electric Banana gone completely nuts? Will we look back on this selection of ‘Single of the Week’ with shame? One would hope not.

HURTS – Wonderful Life

Manchester band Hurts are reviving British synth-pop, a genre that’s been long-gone since the terrible days of shoulder pads! Sure, Hurts don’t come dressed like your Aunt Edna like their musical heroes, but rather a slick, full-suited look mixed with a hint of (gulp) Bros!

Having raped the 1980s completely, they should surely be given a 1 star out of 5 review and be told to “do one”? Wrong. Sure, the snobby critics will give it a tough ride, but with a video directly out of Robert Palmer school of 1980s sexism combined with classic sultry electro, we just couldn’t bring ourselves to give it a mighty rollicking.

BRANDON FLOWERS – Crossfire

Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers dips his toe into the solo waters with his first single. Taken from his upcoming album Flamingo, Crossfire is Flowers “playing it safe” with the signature Killer sound – soaring vocals, 80′s rock influences and heavy bass.

The track starts off with the aformentioned nice heavy bass-line, but then sadly launches into an early 90s Bon Jovi track tribute during the chorus. However, for Killers’ fans and people who like to hear their music in big stadiums, then I suppose this ticks all the right boxes. It just needs something extra to make sure Flowers’ solo career is going to flower.

BIFFY CLYRO – God and Satan

Dave Grohl, the former Nirvana drummer has always exhibited a fine ear for enormous pop hooks, and with the Foo Fighters has enjoyed considerable chart success. Here he continues to….hang on a flippin’ minute, this is Biffy Clyro! Our apologies.

Oh how we jest with you! This is soft acoustic plucking and strumming that is a far departure from Biffy’s original raw stuff and has added strings that will have the band’s old fans holding their poor heads in their hands. Bless them. Quite nice with rubbish lyrics, but just don’t use the term “commercial sell-out b*stards” in front of Simon Neil – as he will rip your throat out. Probably.

FREELANCE WHALES – Hannah

Full marks for the name, the New York-based five-piece Freelance Whales had enjoyed a smooth ride into the critics hearts…until their debut album came out and was (quite rightly) harpooned by some journos.

This is all Postal Service/Owl City soft synths and toy box electronica mix with plucked guitar and banjo to keep the songs ticking over with nary a misplaced note. This type of thing was done a lot better by the Postal Service (who still remain critically underrated) back in 2003 – who proved you can make a decent record with a laptop.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS – Miss Nothing

Taylor Momsen is a visually exciting 17-year-old actress who portrays the character Jenny Humphrey on television series Gossip Girl. She also does a passable impression of everyone’s favourite female nutjob Courtney Love here.

This one’s loaded with Hole’s rock chick angst and another killer chorus. She may be able to leave the day job if she release stuff like this. Although, the whole angst thing is hard to believe going from a rich and visually exciting teenager. If you can ignore this and are fond of the musical output of Avril Lavigne etc, then you might like it.

AGGRO SANTOS – Saint or Sinner

From Balham, South London, Aggro Santos’ debut single Candy ft Kimberly Wyatt went straight in at #5 in the UK charts, and remained in the top 5 for 5 weeks, selling in excess of 200,000 records. This offering will only enhance his commercial clout.

The female vocals make this almost passable – but it still sounds like the kind of thing that ruffians who drink Stella in nightclubs and enjoy punching people in the face would enjoy. So, if you are a sinner and like clubbing, then you’ll love a bit of Aggro.

TAIO CRUZ – Dynamite

Taio Cruz has written songs for Cheryl Cole, JLS, The Wanted, The Saturdays and McFly. He is still at large and is a major threat to the respectability of British popular music. If you see this man within one mile of a recording studio or any form of musical instrument, then please contact the music police immediately.

The text on the front of the CD really should say ‘Taio Cruz ft. Autotune’, as autotune is smothered all over Dynamite like a rubbish bomb disposal expert. Horrible. Sounds like Usher. Dynamite? More like a wet fire cracker.

Jennifer Lopez Make Up: How to Get Your Glow On

What may come to mind when you consider of Jennifer Lopez? Is it actress, artist, dancer, or American Idol judge? Maybe, but one aspect she’s properly identified for is having gorgeous skin. At one period, she released an album entitled, “Glow.” Numerous people thought she was referring to her healthful, luminous skin. No matter if she’s at a film premier or awards show, J. Lo normally has beautiful skin and captivating makeup which accentuates her main characteristic which are her eyes. It’s quite effortless to copy the Jennifer Lopez make up look to add a small amount bit of style into your life.

Eyes

Jennifer Lopez uses the smoky eye look the majority of of the time to feature her gorgeous brown eyes. Of course, makeup artists frequently use the air brush method on her, but you can still copy her look with common make up. Her colors of preference are shimmery earth tones like bronze, brown, gold, and taupe. For awards shows, she experiments with attractive shades of silver. These are practical colors anyone can put on in the day and adjust to going out at night. For added accent, be sure to use a white cream highlighter with glint on the eye brow bone. An eye pencil in white can be applied to line the interior of the lower lash line to give you the “dollish” look J. Lo has perfected. Next, use dark brown or black liner to the upper and lower lash line. You can use a pencil liner (run it softly back and forth over the lash line) or a wet eye liner brush dipped in dark brown or black eye shadow. Mineral pigments work very famously for this and last all day with no eventuality of “raccoon eye syndrome.” Use a brow liner or powder to fill in your brows. Don’t forget the lashes! For a special night out, you can use false eye lashes, otherwise just use black mascara to the top and bottom lashes to finish off the eyes.

Lips

J. Lo’s lip color can only be looked upon one way: neutral. often she wields a pink color, but it’s light colored which brings more interest to the eyes. A good rule of thumb in makeup is if you are emphasizing the eyes with the smoky look, you should decide upon a neutral lip color. J. Lo has this down to a awesome science. She normally has gloss on the lips for extra shine, so whether you choose a nude beige, peach or pink lipstick, be sure to apply gloss in a similar shade or use clear gloss. You can also decide upon to skip the lipstick entirely and simply line the lips with a nude colored lip pencil, then use gloss to conclude the look.

Skin

Besides her eyes, J. Lo’s skin is her sexiest aspect. Before applying any foundation or powder, be sure to start by manipulating a quality moisturizer into freshly cleansed skin. Having a moisturized face will help the makeup adhere better. Next, follow these tips to get the J Lo Glow:

1. Apply concealer to problem areas, such as discoloration and blemishes. Blend in. 2. Using a brush, apply foundation in a color which closely matches your skin. A brush gives you more control of the foundation when blending it into your skin for a smooth, seamless look. 3. Use a bronzer to define your cheekbones and upper forehead area. use with a large brush and remember to blend in so as not to have obvious lines. 4. Apply a pink or beige cream (a good choice for dry skin) or powder blush (better for oily skin) to the apples of cheeks. 5. Use a white glimmer highlighting cream to enhance the glow. This can be the same product you used to emphasize the brow bone. Dot lightly onto upper cheek bones and down your nose.

NBA Playoff Races at Stake

Two of the questions to keep in mind in the NBA are who wants to play and who is packing it in? Playoff seedings are taking shape and you will find teams on the bubble making adjustments that will affect their play and production, both straight up and against the numbers.

For instance, what is going on with the Miami Heat? Left for dead with the regular-season ending injury to star Dwyane Wade, they are suddenly red-hot. Since Wade went down against the Rockets on Feb. 21, the Heat has gone 10-2 SU/ATS. They are now battling Washington for the lead in the Southeast Division.

What are they doing? Going through Shaq and playing team ball! The Heat continued the all-for-one approach last Friday, with all five starters scoring in double figures, led by Shaq’s 23 points, Jason Williams had 19, Eddie Jones had 19, James Posey scoring 16 and Udonis Haslem with 11.

Coach Pat Riley said his team has been keeping the strategy simple, playing through O’Neal in the post and Williams on the pick-and-roll. From there, the offense is relying on a group of veterans who know how to make the right play. “Until somebody makes that adjustment on us, we’re going to continue playing that way,” Riley said. Who can argue with that strategy? Even more important, who can bet against this team until opponents figure out a way to stop what they are doing? The Heat extended a season-long winning streak to nine games and a home winning streak to 14.

Meanwhile, the best team in the East, Detroit, continued to roll with an impressive winning streak out West, whipping Phoenix. The Pistons have won 10 of 11 on the road! Subbing for an injured Chauncey Billups, guard Flip Murray scored 25 points with six steals, helping the Pistons to a rousing 105-83 victory over the Suns. The Pistons had not swept five straight games on the West Coast since the 1991-92 season.

Surprisingly, the Pistons are doing it with defense, something that was lacking last year when they were more of an uptempo team under then first-year coach Flip Saunders. The Pistons took away the 3-point shot, allowing the Suns a season-low 1-of-9 in the first half and 2-for-15 for the game. The Pistons forced 22 turnovers, turning them into 28 points, and won the rebound contest, 37-28. The Suns’ season-low 83 points were 27 below their league-leading average! They covered again as a home dog Sunday to Dallas, but lost the game.

Orlando is another team that made some key adjustments this week, hoping to keep its postseason hopes alive. Coach Brian Hill decided to change the roles and playing rotations for the final few weeks of the regular season, and veteran guard Keyon Dooling has been a key player in the new order of things.

Dooling played 21 minutes as the backup point guard Friday, a position he had not played all season, giving the Magic a defensive presence that neither Jameer Nelson nor Carlos Arroyo has provided there. There was a combined defensive tenacity and an offensive urgency that had been missing. The win over Utah went ‘under’ the total, so perhaps Orlando could be a good ‘under’ team the rest of the season with the new look.

Reserve guards Trevor Ariza, J.J. Redick and Dooling shared time, for a much tighter rotation without any experimentation. It’s likely to continue as Orlando battles to stay afloat in the race for the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Speaking of totals, over in Houston, the Rockets have suddenly become an aggressive offensive team, going 5-1 ‘over’ the total the last 6 games! What is going on? They just flattened Toronto, scoring 114 points. Tracy McGrady led the Rockets with 24 points and added seven assists while Yao Ming had 23 points and 12 rebounds. The Rockets won the rebound battle 47-33. Adding Yao has seemed to significantly boost the Houston offense, so perhaps they will continue to be a team scoring more, for more ‘over’ looks. Changes happen constantly in the NBA. A good handicapper needs to keep up on all the shifts as each one may influence sides and totals. Good luck, as always…Al McMordie.
